28 300 km, 26 days (Part3)

Hi there, this is the third part of the trip I made in China. Last time (see part 2), we were in the province of Yunnan, in the city of Lijiang. We stay in Yunnan, but a bit more to the west, for a hike in the tiger leaping gorge and then to visit Shangri-La (was called Zhongdian until recently), the last Chinese town before Tibet.

This is the Yangtze River, the same river as in Shanghai. At this point, the river is about 2600m higher than see level.DSC_0561 DSC_0568 DSC_0616

The way was quite difficult and we had to be carefull not to fall down!DSC_0660

Unluckily, we had a quite bad weather and at the highest point we reached (about 3000m), we could not see the mountains in front of us.DSC_0663 DSC_0684 DSC_0714 DSC_0723

The next day, the weather was better. We even got sunburned!

If you look closer at the picture above, you will notice some people… so you get the dimensions of the rocks and of the waterfall we had to cross by feet!DSC_0852

After the hiking we went to shangri-La, a beatiful city with a great tibetan flair.DSC_0871 DSC_0875 DSC_0899 DSC_0905 DSC_0907 DSC_0912

This (see above) was the view we had from our room, at the “Bird of paradise Inn”.DSC_0913 DSC_0924 DSC_0926 DSC_0932 DSC_0936 DSC_0942

The following pictures were taken at the Songzanlin monastery of Shangri-La. More than 600 Buddhist monks still live there.DSC_0960 DSC_0979 DSC_0987 DSC_0988 DSC_0989 DSC_1003 DSC_1006 DSC_1020 DSC_1022 DSC_1028 DSC_1031 DSC_1033

This was our room: romantic, isn’t it?DSC_1043

then we went to the natural park of Podatso. I think it is too expansive and tehre are not so much impressive things to see there.DSC_0048 1

After Shangri-La, we flu to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan. We stayed only one day there, and I did not find this town really worth seeing.DSC_0089 1 DSC_0102 1
